Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actor and singer, is a former model. Kotero is famous for her role as co-star in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the group of girls Apollonia 6. The group was just one of the female artists who benefited of Prince's involvement throughout the 1980s. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959 her career started as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s with a role on the TV show CHiPS. She was the lead female in Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at when he was changing the name of her). At the time of that year, she was replaced by Vanity as a member of the trio Vanity 6 and performed with them under the name Apollonia 6 in the film. The trio scored a modest success with the film Sex Shooter, but it was when Prince performed as his duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero's association with Prince came to an end when the duo disagreed on her career direction. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of had a ended up splitting. Following her appearance in minor movies (and as of the reports, refusing to take part with the Purple Rain film Under the Cherry Moon) her name was mentioned and she was part of the 1985-1986 show on television called Falcon Crest. Apollonia's debut album was released in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks weren't well-received by those who bought music. The album soon vanished. The singer was still active, though not under the spotlight, as an actor during the decade following with small roles in television and films. A workout DVD was made available. Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish called Stay with me in 1997. Following her return to the university she earned a bachelor's degree in filmmaking. Then she founded her own company. Apollonia is a multi-talented lady. She has worked as an actress, model and talent manager. Purple Rain, the 1984 movie in which she starred is her most famous part. Additionally, she has been featured on TV shows and in films like Black Magic Woman. Kotero debuted her career as a model. She participated in several pageants. Kotero took home her first prize at the Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant. Then, in the 1980s, she debuted her acting career. Apollonia Kotero was born in the United States.
