Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. This is a natural quality for a woman who was of Irish descent, that was surrounded during her early years by talented family members as well as parents. Maureen came to this loving sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. Her family was her parents as well as family members. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the famous Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd child from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this amazing family. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. Her talent for performing was the perfect match for her passion for sport. It was evident by her winning pretty much every Feis award for drama or theatrical performing her country offered. At the age of 14, she was accepted to the prestigious Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre along with operatic music.
